Record hotel bookings for Christmas and New Year in Indore | News

INDORE: Hotel bookings for Christmas and New Year topped pre-Covid-19 figures, with most resorts and hotels nearing full capacity and hoteliers expect at least 20% higher activity this year.
Most of the scenic destinations in the Indore region are fully booked from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, while some properties are booked through the first week of January, hoteliers said.
NK Swarnkar, Regional Manager, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation, Indore said: “We are fully booked from Christmas to New Years and have a lot of bookings pending. This season is shaping up to be much better than the 2019 season. We are organizing a gala dinner and bonfire at two destinations on New Years Eve. ”
The resorts of Sailani, Hanuwantiya, Maheshwar, Gandhi Sagar, Mandu and Choral are sold out entirely from Christmas to New Year, according to the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Corporation.
Although most hotels in the city of Indore have not announced to have parties on New Years Eve due to apprehension of the new strain of coronavirus and any likely restrictions by the district administration to combat the spread, dinners and banquets are almost reserved.
Ranjan Das, general manager of a luxury hotel cluster in Indore, said: “Sentiments are positive and given the trend we are forecasting at least 25% more activity for Christmas and New Years. To make up for the time lost in previous years, families and friends come in large numbers to celebrate special days and the holiday season. ”
Hoteliers said room reservations and food services eclipsed the figures for the past three years with a strong surge in tourists seen during the winter season.
They said bookings are expected to increase further next week.
Speaking to TOI, Sumit Suri, President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, Madhya Pradesh said: “As there is no clarity on administrative orders, hotels in the city does not have large-scale parties, but many meetings do take place and room reservations have increased dramatically. ”
