With the July 4 holiday season upon us, the NLCRPD urges residents to have a safe and relaxing vacation. The NLCRPD team also encourages residents to take advantage of the free service provided by the NLCRPD for a home security check during the time you are away from home. This is easily obtained by using the drop-down tab in the forms and going to the Vacation Home Check tab or by calling the NLCRPD administrative offices at 717-733-0965 and requesting the service. An NLCRPD team associate will request specific information and provide it to NLCRPD patrols to perform checks while you are away.
The North Lancaster County Regional Police Department is offering holiday security checks to residents. Officers will periodically check the exterior of your home while you are away.
Q. What is a House Check?
A: Your home will be inspected by an agent every other day. This, of course, depends on manpower and the availability of officers.
Q. What does the agent do when they check my house?
A: The agent will walk around the residence to make sure the house is secure and there are no signs of a break-in. They will also look for any signs that unwanted people or vehicles have passed by. They will watch for things that may seem out of the ordinary. The agent will log verification times in their activity log.
Q. What happens if something goes wrong?
A: The person(s) you indicate as your emergency contact will be notified; most likely you will also be informed immediately afterwards. Don’t forget to give us your mobile phone number in case of emergency.
