This summer, 87% of American travelers planned to go on vacation, according to Fodor’s Summer Travel Survey. The survey also revealed that a significant number of people had their eyes set on domestic destinations. Backyard travel has become a big trend throughout the pandemic, and while the travel industry is grappling with a deluge of problems, domestic vacations remain an attractive option.

Luckily, there’s so much to see in the United States, and with gas prices dropping, you can plan a quick getaway even in the middle of summer without stretching your budget.

The Maryland resort town turns into a playground for travelers in the summer. Ocean City’s beaches attract surfers and swimmers from near and far, and the boardwalk is a major entertainment hub with restaurants, shops, and activities. But the crowds start to dwindle in late summer, and you can plan a trip in late summer or early fall to enjoy the city without bumping into things. There are several events and festivals in the fall, including Wine on the Beach, Sunfest, and OCtoberfest. Another advantage? Prices drop considerably.

Located 10 minutes from the promenade, Tru by Hilton Ocean City Bayside is a pet-friendly hotel that opened in 2020. With free Wi-Fi, an indoor pool, fitness center and parking spaces, it’s a great place to stay and, thankfully, , it also offers a 30% off.

You can book a King or Two-Queen room from September 5 to November 30 for $65 to $89 per night from Sunday to Thursday and $89 to $199 per night Friday-Saturday. Breakfast is included and some dates in August are also available.
