Maryland sisters die in Hamptons vacation home fire

Two younger sisters from Potomac, MD – Lindsay Weiner, 19, and Jillian Weiner, 21, were killed in an early morning house fire in the Hamptons, east of Long Island.

Police responded to a home after Southampton, NY City Police received a call from an occupied residence on fire, officials said. When they arrived, three people were found: the father, mother and brother of the sisters who escaped the fire.

Firefighters located the sisters inside the house and took them to SUNY Southampton Hospital with the three surviving victims – while they had non-life threatening injuries it was too late to save Lindsay and Jillian.

The Washington Hebrew Congregation shared in a post on their site this statement: “It is with heartbreaking sadness that we share that Lindsay and Jillian Wiener, the daughters of WHC President Lewis Wiener and his wife Alisa, died in a house fire early this morning while that the family was in New York. The world lost two beautiful lights today, and we are heartbroken.”

The congregation has announced that a funeral service for the sisters will be held on Monday, August 8.

Southampton town officials said Patch, com that the house did not have a valid rental permit, meaning there was no inspection of the property to ensure safety. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fox 5 NY contributed to this report.
