The Indonesian holiday island of Bali theoretically reopened today to international tourist arrivals. He saw SIX passengers enter a Garuda Indonesia cargo flight Thursday from Tokyo.
There has already been a change from what was communicated earlier regarding the 5 X 24 hour (five day) quarantine that would take place upon entering Bali. Potential visitors are now required to purchase a “Warm-up vacation» Package offered by some hotels.
These hotels have select wings reserved for Warm Up Vacation (quarantine) guests with pools, gyms, and maybe even beach access (this obviously depends on location). You don’t have to stay inside your room or suite for five days, but you can move to a specific area.
Hotel employees, who interact with “Warm Up Vacation” guests, must live on the property and not be permitted to leave the premises.

Here they also offer to manage your visa, at a price almost insignificant how much the package would cost you.
So now you can no longer quarantine yourself at any place, but have to buy, perhaps at an inflated price, a “Warm Up Welcome” package in one of the approved hotels?
I like the idea that you aren’t confined to your room for the duration of your “quarantine,” but how is that going to work when guests from different days can mix and match? What happens if one of the guests tests positive? Do all guests of the “Warm Up Welcome” package then have to be quarantined?
You also need to apply for a visa which can be done online, but you need a local sponsor who wants money.
It is far too difficult for a real tourist to cross. Might be an option for expats and Indonesians who wish to return to the country and would prefer to quarantine in a better setting than a basic hotel room.
