Hilton survey: 59% of Americans plan to take a vacation on their wishlist


After spending a year at home, Americans are setting off on a trip again and making up for lost time by booking their dream vacation. According to a new survey by Hilton, 59% of those polled plan to return to travel with a list of vacations they would not have considered before the pandemic. The survey analyzed the impact of COVID-19 on Americans’ travel habits and determined their most searched wishlist destinations. Major locations included international and national landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, the Eiffel Tower, Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty, the Coliseum in Rome, and the Las Vegas Strip.

The survey, which was conducted by market research firm OnePoll and included responses from 2,000 American adults, showed a strong desire to start traveling after the pandemic: 64% of Americans agreed they desperately needed a vacation, especially as 26% did not. had been on vacation for over a year at the time of the survey.

A domestic travel mindset
Since many go from vacation vacations to dream vacations, survey respondents rated domestic travel as their best bet for a bucket list trip. In fact, 57% of those polled said they would be more comfortable traveling to the United States on their first post-pandemic vacation. The top U.S. cities Americans plan to visit are Honolulu (29%), New York (25%), and Las Vegas (24%).
